It can be interesting to find different ways to cook our indigenous foods. I tried fried Okra some days ago but it didn’t taste as great as I thought that it would. So, I decided to try it again. This time, I had looked through recipes and I came up with my own. Fried Okra is commonly eaten in the Southern parts of the US. It is not common to have fried Okra in Nigeria or Africa.
I had corn flour at home as well as semolina. I mixed the two flours and added some black pepper, dry pepper, and a sprinkle of salt. I sliced raw Okra fingers and dipped them into whisked eggs to soak. After a few minutes, I removed the Okra from the eggs and got them coated in the flour mix. I Fried the breaded okra in a little olive oil.
I was sent on an errand today to buy some fresh seafoods in a local market and I was attracted by the crabs that I saw so I got some. I decided to pair the crabs with my fried Okra.
Okra is a great vegetable containing quite a number of vitamins and minerals. Most of the time, okra is stewed in Nigeria and Africa but it can serve as a great snack too. The fried Okra was very delicious and it is a snack that has great benefits.
I offered the fried Okra and sautéed crab to one of my Toddlers and he was quick to say ‘No way’ but I was surprised that his Dad ate it with relish after his initial apprehension.
You deserve an award of the year for your trying out of new recipes. My sis you are just amazing……..You are really preaching good nutrition.
Sure will try this recipe out. Thanks
